Academic Framework
The Competency-Based Curriculum
"Shifting from what a learner knows, to what a learner can do. At Scholarstem Academy, we don't just teach for exams; we train for life."
What is CBC?
The Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) is Kenya's modern approach to education. Unlike the previous system, CBC focuses on identifying the unique potential of every student.
Competency-Based Education (CBE) ensures that learning is personalized. A student only moves to the next level once they have demonstrated mastery of specific skills, ensuring no child is left behind in the pursuit of grades.

At this stage, we focus on the socialization of the child. Learning is through play, music, and environment exploration.
Tier 02
Primary Education

This stage introduces formal learning areas with a heavy focus on the environment, hygiene, and STEM foundations.
Tier 03
Junior Secondary
(Grade 7 - 9)
The most critical stage where students are prepared for Senior Secondary career pathways (STEM, Arts, or Social Sciences).
Learning Through Action
Sports & Athletics
Developing teamwork and physical health through football, swimming, and track events.
Creative Arts
Nurturing artistic talents in music, pottery, painting, and drama.
Environmental Clubs
Practical agriculture and sustainability projects along our Gikono campus.
A New Way of Assessing
In CBE, we use Formative Assessment (ongoing check-ins) and Summative Assessment (end-of-tier exams). This allows us to track a student's progress in real-time and provide intervention where needed.
